"WindowsUpdate_80070424" "WindowsUpdate_dt000"
Hello. I'm running Windows vista ultimate SP1, and since two days the automatic updates aren't working anymore, I get this error : "WindowsUpdate_80070424" "WindowsUpdate_dt000". I've checked the BITS service, it's running, I've alsore-registered it (regsvr32 wuaueng.dll with administrator rights), and it doesn't change a lot (only the notification in the status bar disapear ... until windows tries for thenext time the automatic update). I don't see any error related to this event in the event viewer, and according the windows update log, the last one that worked was an update for windows defender, 10 days ago, the KB915597. I've also tested a comand file with these commands : net stop cryptsvc net stop wuauserv ren %windir%\system32\catroot2 catroot2.old ren %windir%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old regsvr32 comcat.dll /s Regsvr32 Msxml.dll /s Regsvr32 Msxml2.dll /s proxycfg -u Regsvr32 Msxml3.dll /s regsvr32 shdoc401.dll /s regsvr32 cdm.dll /s regsvr32 softpub.dll /s regsvr32 wintrust.dll /s regsvr32 initpki.dll /s regsvr32 dssenh.dll /s regsvr32 rsaenh.dll /s regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll /s regsvr32 sccbase.dll /s regsvr32 slbcsp.dll /s regsvr32 mssip32.dll /s regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll /s regsvr32 wucltui.dll /s regsvr32 shdoc401.dll /i /s regsvr32 dssenh.dll /s regsvr32 rsaenh.dll /s regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll /s regsvr32 sccbase.dll /s regsvr32 slbcsp.dll /s regsvr32 asctrls.ocx /s regsvr32 wintrust.dll /s regsvr32 initpki.dll /s regsvr32 softpub.dll /s regsvr32 oleaut32.dll /s regsvr32 shdocvw.dll /I /s regsvr32 shdocvw.dll /s regsvr32 browseui.dll /s regsvr32 browseui.dll /I /s regsvr32 msrating.dll /s regsvr32 mlang.dll /s regsvr32 hlink.dll /s regsvr32 mshtmled.dll /s regsvr32 urlmon.dll /s regsvr32 plugin.ocx /s regsvr32 sendmail.dll /s regsvr32 scrobj.dll /s regsvr32 mmefxe.ocx /s regsvr32 corpol.dll /s regsvr32 jscript.dll /s regsvr32 msxml.dll /s regsvr32 imgutil.dll /s regsvr32 thumbvw.dll /s regsvr32 cryptext.dll /s regsvr32 rsabase.dll /s regsvr32 inseng.dll /s regsvr32 iesetup.dll /i /s regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll /s regsvr32 actxprxy.dll /s regsvr32 dispex.dll /s regsvr32 occache.dll /s regsvr32 occache.dll /i /s regsvr32 iepeers.dll /s regsvr32 urlmon.dll /i /s regsvr32 cdfview.dll /s regsvr32 webcheck.dll /s regsvr32 mobsync.dll /s regsvr32 pngfilt.dll /s regsvr32 licmgr10.dll /s regsvr32 icmfilter.dll /s regsvr32 hhctrl.ocx /s regsvr32 inetcfg.dll /s regsvr32 tdc.ocx /s regsvr32 MSR2C.DLL /s regsvr32 msident.dll /s regsvr32 msieftp.dll /s regsvr32 xmsconf.ocx /s regsvr32 ils.dll /s regsvr32 msoeacct.dll /s regsvr32 inetcomm.dll /s regsvr32 msdxm.ocx /s regsvr32 dxmasf.dll /s regsvr32 l3codecx.ax /s regsvr32 acelpdec.ax /s regsvr32 mpg4ds32.ax /s regsvr32 voxmsdec.ax /s regsvr32 danim.dll /s regsvr32 Daxctle.ocx /s regsvr32 lmrt.dll /s regsvr32 datime.dll /s regsvr32 dxtrans.dll /s regsvr32 dxtmsft.dll /s regsvr32 WEBPOST.DLL /s regsvr32 WPWIZDLL.DLL /s regsvr32 POSTWPP.DLL /s regsvr32 CRSWPP.DLL /s regsvr32 FTPWPP.DLL /s regsvr32 FPWPP.DLL /s regsvr32 WUAPI.DLL /s regsvr32 wups2.dll /S regsvr32 WUAUENG.DLL /s regsvr32 ATL.DLL /s regsvr32 WUCLTUI.DLL /s regsvr32 WUPS.DLL /s regsvr32 WUWEB.DLL /s regsvr32 wshom.ocx /s regsvr32 wshext.dll /s regsvr32 vbscript.dll /s regsvr32 scrrun.dll mstinit.exe /setup /s regsvr32 msnsspc.dll /SspcCreateSspiReg /s regsvr32 msapsspc.dll /SspcCreateSspiReg /s proxycfg d sc sdset wuauserv DA;;CCLCSWRPWPDTLOCRRC;;;SY)(A;;CCDCLCSWRPWPDTLOCRSDRCWDWO;;;BA)(A;;CCLCSWLOCRRC;;;AU)(A;;CCLCSWRPWPDTLOCRRC;;;PU) regsvr32 mshtml.dll /s net start cryptsvc net start wuauserv It doesn't fix the problem, the only result is loosing the history of windows updates. If you are getting your updates from Windows Updates online then you should post this question in the Vista forum. This forum is dedicated to Software Update distribution via System Center Configuration Manager 2007. Here's the Vista forums: http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/default.aspx?ForumGroupID=204&SiteID=17

In the end, and after several contacts with the technichal support, it apeared than the only way to fix the problem was in reinstalling windows on itsalef, in the repair mode. After that, it started to work well again

I initiated contact with MS Support. After many attempts, they provided a solution that worked.I'm going to reproduce it below but please note: I don't know how generic this solution is so please only attempt as a last resort, and also seek the advice of a Microsoft MVP before attempting to use it:" Suggestion: 1. Download the file from the attachment. 2. Extract the file to the desktop, right click on the wuauserv.reg and select the Merge option from menu. 3. Reboot the system and then try to install the updates in the system." As I'm unable to attach the file, note that it is intended to be merged in your registry to reset/add the necessary functions. I'm happy to send you the file should you wish to try it. E-mail piboutATgmail.com

N.B. - MVP's and MS Staff.I feel that the OP has been let down by being informed that a complete Windows reinstall was necessary. Please see the solution referred above, which was provided for me and consider heightening general awareness of that solution.

Windows Update error code 80070424 (1) Go to Start / All Programs / Accessories. Right Click the 'Command Prompt' item and click the 'Run As Administrator' option. In the Command Prompt window, Paste the following command. REGSVR32 %SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\WUAUENG.DLL Press ENTER. You should see a popup that says the command succeeded. Exit the command prompt and try Windows Update again. (2) 1. Click Start. Choose Run. 2. In the Run box, type: regsvr32.exe wuaueng.dll 3. Click OK.

Have been trying to get the WindowsUpdate_80070424 WindowsUpdate_dt000 errors fixed for hours now and this finally did the trick.Turned out that, despite up to date virusscanner (and a good one at that, NOD32), I managed to get infected with a virus. Update of my virusscanner found the infected files and deleted them, but not before the virus disabled some services in Vista. I am adding the found files and virusdescriptions so someone that is looking for this information will find it more easily:\Windows\system32\shrhost.exe probably a variant of Win32/SdBot trojan cleaned by deleting - quarantined \AppData\Local\Temp\kb0.125.exe - probably a variant of Win32/SdBot trojan - cleaned by deleting - quarantined [1]\NERO7962\Toolbar.exe - Win32/Toolbar.AskSBar application - cleaned by deleting - quarantined [1]

Not sure how its working for you guys??? Did anyone have any success with vista 64bit ultimate?? I have been trying this and many others and none seems to be working fine. I have initiated a contact with MS for this and hopefully will be able to resolve the issue. This Error code indirectly is not letting me install VS2008 dev express as it always fail with the same error code.

I used your first step, and it waid it was successful. However, when I went to install the updates, they still gave me an error. So I tried step two, and recieved a message like "The modual "wuaueng.dll" was loaded but the call to DLLRegisterserver failed with error code "0X80070005".Do you have anymore suggestions?

Doc Lang, You need to run this under administrator command prompt. To do so, go to all programs -- accessories -- right click on command prompt and select "run as administrator" option

I believe I ahve also incountered this virus... After the first time Update was disabled I used the "solution" chaxx proposed and it seemed to work, it even downloaded some updates. Upon restart Windows Defender found a backdoor with a name similar to what you mentioned and deleted it. Now Im not even getting an error code. It just says Update Failed Is there any way to re-installed these damaged componants?

Had the same problem with this error code for some time now, and I'm not overly comp lit, enough but not on the tech side, lol and tried what you said didn't work at first but I noticed that I hadn't been prompted to be run as administrator, so I re-tried but right clicked the command prompt then selected run as administrator, continued as you stated and it worked perfectly, thank you very much for your help!!!
